Forty-five players have potted a single marker through early group play, and two players lead the way with two goals as we look at the Euro 2024 top goal scorer odds across our best soccer betting sites.

English star forward Harry Kane remains trophyless despite his best efforts at his new club, Bayern Munich, this past season. However, even if Kane's England side doesn't win Euro 2024, he can still earn some individual hardware if he gets going. Kane scored England's only marker in their second game, joining a group of forty-five players with one goal in early play.

Fresh off leading the 2022 World Cup in scoring, Kylian Mbappe entered Euro 2024 as arguably the best player in the world. However, he continues to be without a goal in a European Championship after failing to score in France's opener, and he missed France's second game with a broken nose.

Alongside those two looms the ever-present Cristiano Ronaldo, who's twice earned the Golden Boot in this tournament. Will Ronaldo repeat as the tournament's top goal scorer, or will a younger star dethrone him?

Germany's Jamal Musiala is a surprise name to join the oddsboard, as he wasn't in the top ten contenders heading into Germany's second game but is now one of two players with two markers. Slovakia's Ivan Schranz also has a pair of goals, but he's not really up the oddsboard given his team isn't expected to make a deep run through the tournament.

In addition to our look at the UEFA Euro 2024 odds, here are the best odds for the tournament's top goal scorer from our best sports betting sites.

What to look for in a Golden Boot winner

There are many ways to identify solid candidates to win the Golden Boot at a major international tournament.

First, you want to select players who are more likely to play deeper into the tournament. Ronaldo may score three or four goals in the group stage, but if his Portuguese side is knocked out in the Round of 16 and Mbappe and France progress to the final, the latter will naturally have a better chance of scoring more goals.

Second, you want to target teams that are more offensively minded. If you track a nation's recent form and see they win most of their games by scoring only one or maybe two goals, then even the best player on that team may not be the right option in this market.

The third thing to look for is players who are on penalties. As someone who plays Premier League fantasy and just saw how valuable Cole Palmer was thanks to his role as Chelsea's penalty-taker, this is really something to track. Kane will almost certainly be England's penalty-taker as the captain and one of the world's most cold-blooded finishers.

Fourth, I'd also look at players who are nailed on as starters. Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka are both very interesting options at their long odds, but no one is quite sure how Gareth Southgate will set up his starting XI. Therefore, you may want to avoid betting them until we have more information.

Finally, if you're looking for longer odds and want to bypass the favorites, target players in relatively easy groups. We mentioned that players who advance further will have an obvious advantage, but an attacking player who's prolific enough against inferior competition may just be able to win the Golden Boot in far fewer matches.

Best bets for Euro top goal scorer

Harry Kane (+650 via bet365)

Kane won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, scoring six goals in seven matches. He's the Three Lions' all-time goal-scoring leader, bagging 62 goals in 89 contests. The England captain scored eight goals in as many Euro 2024 qualifiers and has notched 12 goals in 22 Euro and World Cup matches combined.

As the odds suggest, deciding between Mbappe and Kane is a tough choice, and the best bet may be just to take both of them.

Kylian Mbappe (+1000 via FanDuel)

Mbappe is arguably the world's most lethal striker. He won the Golden Boot at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring eight goals in seven games. Whether France enjoys a deep and fruitful run will probably depend on if Mbappe is at his best.

The 25-year-old will be playing in his second Euro. He's scored nine goals across eight 2024 qualifier matches. Overall, he's netted 46 goals in 77 caps with France.

Mbappe was held off the scoresheet in France's opener, and will miss their second game with a broken nose, hence his odds lengthening so much since opening as the favorite.

If two or more players are tied for the goal-scoring lead at the end of the tournament, the market will result in a dead heat. This means the amount you were set to win will be divided by the number of players who tie for the lead.
