You're not alone if you're experiencing a 4 Nations Face-Off hangover. Thankfully, the resumption of the NHL schedule can be a perfect tonic for what ails. 

With the playoffs on the horizon, we're jumping right back into the thick of things. The almost two-week break has provided enough time to mull the Stanley Cup odds and favorites.

While the time away may have swung some opinions and perspectives, my vision of the best Stanley Cup picks, predictions, and best bets remains clear and unchanged.

🏆 Stanley Cup prediction: Edmonton Oilers (+650 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

As if the Oilers needed more confidence and momentum going into the business end of the season, their captain might not need to fly home; such is his euphoric high after scoring the golden goal for Canada.  

McDavid will be buzzing despite being exhausted, excited about what may be on the horizon for him and his Oilers. Now that he has a taste of winning, he'll be like an addict, steadfast in securing his next championship fix.  

While McDavid was putting his body on the line for his nation, Hart Trophy odds favorite Leon Draisaitl benefitted from a luxury most elite players can only dream of: rest. 

That juxtaposition over the last two weeks between their megastars will be the perfect combination to spearhead this team to eminent heights. I did an analytical dive on the Oilers in our early Stanley Cup predictions. Sufficed it to say, it's Captain Connor's turn.

While Connor Hellebuyck is the fundamental reason I'm backing the Winnipeg Jets, he's not the standalone factor. They have a prolific, well-rounded offense, the best power play, one of the best home records, and a superb defensive system that protects their Hart Trophy odds front-runner. 

And when they need their netminder to come up big, he rarely fails. Hellebuyck is the type of competitor to grow from the devastating 4 Nations Face-Off final defeat. Plus, it's only a matter of time before he gets it right in the postseason. He's too good not to. 

The final reason is their +1300 odds. They haven't been among the five Stanley Cup odds favorites all season despite never dropping below the third-best points percentage.

🎯 Best long shot to win Stanley Cup: New York Rangers (+3500 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

I've scoured the Eastern Conference as much as an Olympic swimmer dives into a pool. Aside from the Ottawa Senators, there's no better long-shot pick than the New York Rangers. Yes, it's speculative, but aren't all long-shot picks? 

The Rangers, sitting three points out of a wild-card spot, have the fourth-best points percentage (.667) since Jan. 9. It looks as though Mika Zibanejad is finally awakening from his half-season hibernation and J.T. Miller will have a long-term positive impact on the Blueshirts, both on and off the ice. 

No team will want to play them if they sneak into the playoffs, especially with one of the best postseason goalies.

Igor Shesterkin has endured another inconsistent campaign, but he's a big-game player constantly rising to the occasion when spring has sprung. Plus, the Rangers have a wealth of playoff experience, advancing to the Eastern Conference final in two of the last four seasons. 

And if the Rangers make the playoffs, they will be one of the best teams for most of the season's second half. While many permutations need to go right, if they do, it's the perfect recipe for an underdog run.
