My best Oilers vs. Avalanche pick: Oilers ML ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is unquestionably a horrendous scheduling spot for the Oilers. Not only is Edmonton playing the second leg of a back-to-back set in the high altitude of Denver, but the Oilers are also logging their seventh straight game in a different city (six of those on the road and one at home) and their fourth contest in six days.
But if any team can handle it, it’s the Oilers.
Recent adversity hasn't been fazing the Oilers, as they've overcome multiple-goal deficits in their last two victories. That includes last night, when the Oilers rallied from an early 2-0 hole to down the Minnesota Wild 5-3. And Edmonton won four of its last five games on zero rest, including a multi-goal win each time.
Edmonton’s offense is also firing on all cylinders, especially on the road where the Oilers have scored three-plus goals in 11 of their last 12 contests. Meanwhile, the Avalanche's offense is struggling, scoring just two regulation-time goals in its last two games and 12 in the team's previous six (with six coming in one game versus Minnesota).
Even in such a tough situational spot, +115 is too good of a price to pass up on an Edmonton squad that's winning a lot lately and is 18-4-1 in its last 23 outings.
Best odds: +115 via Betway | Implied probability: 46.5%
Best Oilers vs. Avalanche player prop pick
NHL picks made Thursday; odds subject to change.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins prop pick: Over 0.5 Goals ⭐⭐
A promotion to Edmonton’s top line has brought the best out of Nugent-Hopkins.
After scoring just six goals in his first 33 games this season, Nugent-Hopkins has matched that in 10 games while skating alongside Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman, collecting points in seven of those outings.
His most productive effort during that stretch came last night in Minnesota, when Nugent-Hopkins notched a goal and an assist for his first multi-point game in a month.
He should also be fresher than usual on the second evening of a back-to-back set after playing just 13:56 last night, well below his season average of 19:05.
Best odds: +225 via Betway | Implied probability: 30.8%
