The last thing the struggling Canucks need right now is a trip to Toronto, where Vancouver has lost 14 of its last 15 visits, and our Canucks vs. Maple Leafs prediction doesn't expect Saturday night's tilt to go much differently.

Vancouver seeks just its third win in 12 games when it takes on the Maple Leafs on Saturday at Scotiabank Arena (7 p.m. ET, CBC/Sportsnet).

Toronto is a -190 moneyline favorite to continue the Canucks’ recent woes, and we believe the Maple Leafs do just that thanks to their superstar forward.

My best Canucks vs. Maple Leafs pick: Maple Leafs regulation win ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not much is going right these days for the Canucks. Last night in Raleigh, they could muster only 15 shots on net against a tired Carolina Hurricanes squad playing for the fifth time in seven days. And after the 2-0 loss - Vancouver’s ninth in 11 games - the team had its flight to Toronto delayed by bad weather.

That makes tonight’s second night of a back-to-back even tougher, especially against a Maple Leafs team looking to rebound from Thursday’s 6-3 loss in Carolina. Toronto tends to respond well in these types of situations, winning 14 of its last 18 games following a loss by two or more.

Backup netminder Dennis Hildeby gets the call tonight for Toronto, but he’ll face a sputtering Canucks offense that has been held to one goal or less in four of its last six games.

When you consider Vancouver’s form, the Canucks’ long history of struggling in Toronto, and the strong motivational spot for the Leafs, -120 looks like a cheap price to back Toronto to win in regulation - something it’s done in 15 of its 17 home victories this year.

Best Canucks vs. Maple Leafs player prop pick

NHL picks made Saturday; odds subject to change.

Auston Matthews prop pick: Over 0.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Matthews has absolutely tormented the Canucks in his career, potting 18 goals in 23 career matchups vs. Vancouver. A lot of that damage has been done at Scotiabank Arena, where Matthews has recorded at least one goal in 10 of 11 meetings with the Canucks.

The Leafs’ sniper is also in top form, collecting three goals and eight points in four games since returning from an upper-body injury.

Finally, he should be motivated to atone for an ugly performance Thursday in Carolina, where both he and linemate Mitch Marner were on the ice for all six of the Hurricanes’ goals.
