Four teams remain in the NFL playoffs and Patrick Mahomes' Super Bowl MVP odds have shortened to +275 as he seeks an unprecedented third straight championship game honor.

The Kansas City Chiefs trail the Philadelphia Eagles by the Super Bowl odds entering the AFC and NFC championships. That's not hurting Mahomes' position on the Super Bowl MVP oddsboard, with his best odds of +275 representing an implied win probability of 26.67%.

Mahomes gradually slipped down the NFL MVP odds during the regular season despite leading his team to a 15-1 record before sitting out Week 18. It was an underwhelming statistical campaign - by his own standards - for Mahomes, who finished the regular season with 3,928 passing yards and 26 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

Still, if last year taught us anything, it's that the regular season means almost nothing for the juggernauts from Kansas City. The two-time defending champions play a different brand of football in January, and our best NFL betting sites have long expected that we'll see them play once again in February.

Mahomes will be the poster boy for an unprecedented third straight Lombardi Trophy win, and the Chiefs host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship.

Josh Allen MVP odds: +300

Best odds: +300 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 25%

Allen was at the helm of the most impressive playoff win for any team to date, as the Bills toppled the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round. Allen threw for just 127 yards but scored two rushing touchdowns in what was a minor upset by the home team.

Allen will need to be better than that if the Bills hope to replicate their 30-21 win over the Chiefs in the regular season with the championship game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Jalen Hurts MVP odds: +550

Best odds: +550 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 15.38%

The Eagles are the Super Bowl favorites entering the NFC championship against the Washington Commanders. Hurts' position at third on this oddsboard has more to say about the internal competition he faces from running back Saquon Barkley (+550 Super Bowl MVP odds) than it does about his own merits.

Though Hurts hasn't seemed at his best since returning for the playoffs from a late-season injury. He completed just 13 of 21 passes for a meager 131 yards against the Green Bay Packers, but he tossed two touchdowns with no interceptions.

How to read Super Bowl MVP odds

Reading Super Bowl MVP odds is straightforward. Odds are usually presented in a format like +500 or -200. Positive odds (e.g., +500) show how much profit you’d make on a $100 bet.

For example, a $100 bet at +500 odds would win you $500, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $600. Negative odds (e.g., -200) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. So, a $200 bet at -200 odds would win you $100, plus your $200 stake, totaling $300.

These odds also reflect the probability of a player capturing the Super Bowl MVP. Lower odds (e.g., +300) suggest a higher likelihood, while higher odds (e.g., +2000) indicate a lower probability. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on performance, injuries, trades, and betting patterns.

If Patrick Mahomes gets +500 odds and Brock Purdy gets +1000, Mahomes is considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on Mahomes and he wins, you’d get $600 back ($500 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you make informed betting decisions and assess potential returns.
