Commanders vs. Eagles prediction

Nobody expected the Commanders to be there, but they earned their spot in the NFC Championship after slaying the top-seeded Lions behind a sensational performance from rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Clearly, he's ready for this moment and will be a problem for any opponent this postseason.

Detroit's defense was ravaged by injuries, though, and the Eagles' defense is one of the best in football. Their run game has been a destructive force all season, too, which concerns me given the issues we've seen from the Commanders' defense. It'll likely be another ugly win, but give me the Eagles to return to the Super Bowl.

Projected score: Eagles 30, Commanders 24

Bills vs. Chiefs prediction

At a certain point, when are we allowed to doubt the Chiefs' form after seemingly sandbagging the regular season en route to 15 wins before a less-than-stellar win in the divisional round? I've been determined to trust this group, anyway, even if approximately zero of those wins looked like the team that we've come to expect in the postseason.

The only game the starters lost came to the Buffalo Bills, who stood toe-to-toe with the Baltimore Ravens - my Super Bowl pick when the postseason started - and came out the other side behind a typical grind-it-out, takeaway-driven victory. That's a tough formula against the Chiefs, but I'm inclined to believe Josh Allen can pull it off this time.

Projected score: Bills 27, Chiefs 23

Eagles vs. Bills prediction

In many ways, these teams play a very similar style of football: they both try to wear down their opponents in the run game while hitting well-timed shots downfield and winning the turnover (and toughness) battle for 60 minutes.

Here's the problem for Philadelphia: QB Jalen Hurts clearly isn't at 100%, which limits one of their greatest weapons in the short rushing game and hampers his ability to create explosive plays out of scrambles. No such limitations exist for Josh Allen, who continues to be one of the most unstoppable forces in football with his arm and legs.

The Bills' defense is beat up right now, but they still held up against the juggernaut Ravens offense and forced three turnovers in wintry conditions. Those won't be present in a dome, but Buffalo has been the more opportunistic unit between these two sides - that could be the difference that propels Allen and the Bills to their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

Projected score: Bills 23, Eagles 20
