First Touchdown Scorer Predictions for Sunday Night Football Week 14
The nightcap on Sunday has the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) at 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC).
My first touchdown scorer predictions for Sunday Night Football take a chance on a couple of longer-odds players with strong track records of finding the end zone.
Scoring will not be easy for either team this week as each faces a top-ten defense for touchdowns allowed per game and total points per game. I was still able to find value on the board, given some key injury concerns as well as a shocking scoring trend that could be exploited.
The below picks are part of our SNF coverage, including the Chargers vs. Chiefs prediction and Chargers vs. Chiefs player props.

Chargers first touchdown scorer prediction: Quentin Johnston, WR ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +1700 via Caesars | Implied probability: 5.56%
Despite rookie sensation Ladd McConkey leading the Chargers in targets (81) and receiving yards (815), Quentin Johnston’s six receiving touchdowns are leading the way in that category.
Johnston has struggled over the last two weeks, catching only two of his nine targets for 12 yards and no touchdowns. However, the embattled wideout found the end zone in three straight games prior to his dry spell.
The Chargers rushing attack took a huge hit when J.K. Dobbins was ruled out due to injury, so much so that they generated just 56 rushing yards against the Atlanta Falcons last week. On top of that, McConkey is a game-time decision with his own injury concerns.
This is an excellent opportunity for Johnston to find his groove and get back into the end zone, which would turn a $10 bet into a $170 profit.
Chiefs first touchdown scorer prediction: DeAndre Hopkins, WR ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +1200 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 7.69%
DeAndre Hopkins has become a key part of the Kansas City passing attack since joining the Chiefs in October, earning 15% of the team’s total targets over the last six games.
The long-tenured wideout is tied with tight end Noah Gray for the third-most targets in Kansas City. He’s also been a threat inside the 20-yard line, earning 26% of the Chiefs’ red zone targets in his brief time with the team.
He has crossed the goal line three times since coming over from the Tennessee Titans, the second-highest tally in Kansas City behind Gray and fellow wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
The Chiefs have not scored a rushing touchdown in their last four games. It will be tough to pick one up this week against a Chargers defense that has allowed only three rushing touchdowns to running backs all season, further enhancing the appeal of this pick.
A winning $10 bet would profit $120.
