The struggling San Francisco 49ers (5-6)  are traveling to Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. to take on the Buffalo Bills (9-2) on Sunday Night Football at 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC).

My first touchdown scorer predictions for Sunday Night Football focus on two of the most productive players on their respective teams.

Odds are shifted heavily in favor of the Bills to strike first in this game as they have done six times this year. Five of the top six players with the shortest odds for a first touchdown come from Buffalo's Super Bowl odds-contending roster.

San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey (+550) is the favorite among the 49ers to cross the goal line first. However, he has yet to find the end zone since his return from injury.

As part of our Week 13 NFL predictions, we also made our 49ers vs. Bills prediction49ers vs. Bills player props, and Josh Allen player props.

Kittle has been the most reliable San Francisco pass catcher this season, leading the team with eight touchdown receptions. The 49ers have crossed the goal line first in five of their 11 contests this year and Kittle accounts for one of them.

This week, he faces a Buffalo defense with the fourth-highest passing touchdown percentage (72.7%) in the league at home. The Bills are coming off of a game in which Kansas City Chiefs tight end Noah Gray torched them for two scores.

The veteran tight end is the second-most targeted pass catcher in San Francisco behind wide receiver Juan Jennings. Kittle has the most red zone targets (17) for the 49ers at any position.

Bills first touchdown scorer prediction: James Cook, RB ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +500 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 16.67%

Cook leads the Bills with 11 total touchdowns this season. The third-year back has found the end zone at least once in eight of his 11 games.

He finds himself in a highly favorable matchup Sunday night as he is set to take on a San Francisco defense that is allowing the third-most rushing touchdowns per game (1.5). Last week, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs gouged them for three scores.

The 49ers have given up the fourth-worst rushing touchdown percentage in the league so far, surrendering a touchdown on the ground 53.3% of the time.

The Bills have scored the first touchdown six times this year. Cook is responsible for three of those. He’s the favorite across most of our favorite sportsbooks, however, a $10 bet will still bring back a tidy $50 profit.
