Commanders anytime touchdown scorer prediction: Austin Ekeler ⭐⭐

Best odds: +240 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 29.41%

Ekeler’s +240 anytime touchdown scorer odds are a great value in comparison to Brian Robinson Jr.’s +165 anytime touchdown odds, especially given Ekeler’s role as a pass-catcher.

Robinson averaged 1.6 yards per carry on 10 carries last week. Thus, the Washington coaching staff may give Ekeler more than eight carries, especially seeing as his 12-yard run was the team’s longest against Tampa Bay.

Ekeler has scored just four total touchdowns this year, but his increase from three to eight carries last week after a five-week injury is a good sign that he is 100% healthy for this matchup.

Washington is the biggest betting underdog in the divisional round odds, so Ekeler should be on the field even more than usual if Jayden Daniels needs to throw to keep pace with Detroit’s No. 1 scoring offense. In the regular season, the Commanders allowed an NFL-worst 7.7% touchdown rate when the opposing quarterback threw the ball in less than 2.5 seconds. When it took more than 2.5 seconds to throw, Washington’s touchdown rate allowed was a league-low 1.4%.

Detroit's tight end had seven touchdowns this season, with two coming in the last three weeks. LaPorta’s increased workload is encouraging, as he has seen seven or more targets in five consecutive games, after starting the season with 11 games of six or fewer targets.

Gibbs faces Washington’s 30th-ranked run defense in this contest. The Commanders’ poor run defense is a big reason why they faced the second-fewest pass attempts per game (28.6) in the regular season.

Gibbs became the fourth Lions player all-time with 1,500 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in a season, and his 1,929 scrimmage yards ranked third in the league. He was a cheat code in the win against Minnesota in Week 18, scoring four total touchdowns, and he has multiple scores in two of the last four weeks.

Gibbs has had three games with two-plus touchdowns since David Montgomery’s injury. While Montgomery is expected back, I do not foresee Dan Campbell giving him a big workload having not played since Week 15.

Gibbs’ implied probability to score multiple touchdowns is as high as 35.09% based on Caesars’ +185 odds, so this bet is worth a flier at FanDuel’s generous +230 odds.
