  • UConn (+400), always a threat under legendary head coach Geno Auriemma, retained superstar guard Paige Bueckers
  • USC (+450) also has a superstar, with now-sophomore Juju Watkins considered by many to be the best player in the sport
  • According to our best sports betting sites, Iowa (+20000) is extremely far from contending after WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark made the jump to the WNBA

Favorites to win 2025 Women's March Madness

South Carolina (+160)

South Carolina became the 10th undefeated champion in women's college basketball and the first since UConn in 2015-16 after beating Iowa 87-75 in the national championship.

Set to lose senior superstar and reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year Kamilla Cardoso to the WNBA, the Gamecocks now have an opening in their frontcourt, but it shouldn't impact them too much.

Staley has a loaded roster, many of whom are returning from last year's championship-winning team.

Eight of the nine players who played over 10 minutes per game last season are back, including guards Te-Hina Paopao and Raven Johnson. Sophomore phenom MiLaysia Fulwiley will likely take another step in her development, making the Gamecocks all the more dangerous.

Meanwhile, a lot is expected from fellow sophomore Tessa Johnson after she showcased her talent in the championship game with 19 points off the bench.

South Carolina faced a serious test in its season opener, only defeating Michigan by six, 68-62. It was Chloe Kitts, the clear Cardoso replacement, who dropped 19 points and 14 rebounds to secure the victory.

Between Staley's coaching ability and how she's built this roster as a master recruiter, it's no wonder the Gamecocks odds are already so short. The +160 odds imply a 38.46% probability South Carolina repeats, according to our odds calculator

UConn (+400)

With Bueckers returning for her redshirt senior season, the Huskies are the only team in the country with a former women's Wooden Award winner. As a freshman, Bueckers was voted the best player in the country, but injuries as a sophomore and junior derailed her development. She came back with a vengeance this past season averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 41.6% from deep.

As long as Bueckers is healthy, UConn is a threat to win its first national championship since 2016. While Geno Auriemma's program lost WNBA first-rounder Aaliyah Edwards, a plethora of young talented players are returning. Juniors Ashlynn Shade and KK Arnold headline the supporting cast in 2024-25, along with star freshman Sarah Strong.

USC (+450)

After falling to the Huskies as a No. 1 seed in last year's Elite Eight, the USC Trojans' odds to win it all in 2025 started a little bit longer than many were expecting.

Since then, they've dropped significantly to the third-shortest (+450). Trojans star JuJu Watkins is set to inherit the title of most prolific scorer in college basketball from Clark after averaging 27.1 as a freshman.

Head coach Lindsay Gottlieb has improved USC in each of her first three seasons at the helm and is expected to win the Pac-12 this upcoming season, especially with Stanford Cardinal star Cameron Brink heading to the WNBA. Watkins already looked like a future No. 1 pick as a freshman, so how good could she be with another year of development under her belt?

The early returns are quite something for Watkins - she dropped 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and five blocks as the Trojans nearly defeated Ole Miss in their season opener.
