Two teams clawing to reach the NBA playoffs take the hardwood tonight when the San Antonio Spurs (23-29) host the Phoenix Suns (26-28) at 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT, truTV, Max) from Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

The biggest news of this one is that Spurs star Victor Wembanyama will miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his right shoulder, which will hurt the Spurs' NBA championship odds, though we made our Suns vs. Spurs prediction and player props with the expectation that Wemby would be out tonight.

Andrew Brennan has you taken care of with action in other places throughout the league in his best NBA player prop bets. We also looked at how Victor Wembanyama's injury impacts the NBA odds.

📊 Suns vs. Spurs pick & odds: Who will win tonight's NBA matchup?

As of Thursday morning, the Suns are favored by 1.5 points to beat the Spurs in tonight's NBA matchup at 9:30 p.m. ET from Moody Center in Austin, Texas. With Victor Wembanyama out, I'm predicting the Suns will beat the Spurs and cover the spread (-1.5).

🎯 Suns vs. Spurs score prediction: Suns 115, Spurs 110

Coming out of the All-Star break, San Antonio will be without star Victor Wembanyama, which is why I'm backing the Suns to win and cover.

  • With Wembanyama ruled out tonight and for the rest of the season, I expect the Suns to beat the Spurs with a final projected score of Suns 115, Spurs 110
  • Kevin Durant was on a hot streak heading into the All-Star break and it should continue without Wemby playing
  • The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games

Best bet: Suns -1.5 (-115 via BetMGM)

In the new Netflix documentary series detailing the men's basketball tournament at this past Olympics, it's clear that everyone is scared of defending Durant. At 36 years old, the Slim Reaper is as lethal as ever, scoring 34 and 37 points in the two games before the All-Star break.

With Wembanyama out, Durant should be able to expose a Spurs defense that ranks in the back half of the league in field goal percentage allowed (46.4%) and points allowed per game (114.4). Durant is sixth in the NBA in PPG (27.3) and is averaging 30 through four games in February.

The 15-time All-Star has already gone for 27-plus in 21 of 41 games this season (51.2%), including in three straight. That makes these even-money odds at FanDuel a terrific value.

Unlike Durant, age is beginning to catch up to the 39-year-old Chris Paul. The 12-time All-Star is averaging a career-low 7.4 shots per game in just 29.1 MPG. However, he still remains one of the best set up men in the league with his 8.1 APG.

But without Wembanyama to set up, and with Stephon Castle cutting into his playing time and De'Aaron Fox taking away some of his lead guard responsibilities, I don't think he's going to be handing out as many apples tonight against his former team.

The Suns allow the 14th-fewest assists per game (26.4), and Paul has averaged his fewest assists per game this month (7.6 in seven games) after averaging eight-plus in the previous three months.

📊 Best Chris Paul prop bet odds

🏀 Best Stephon Castle prop pick: Over 1.5 made 3-pointers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +120 via bet365 ($10 to win $12)

At some point, they may need to consider starting Castle over Paul if the Spurs aren't going to be a true NBA Play-In Tournament odds contender. The No. 4 pick has been playing his best basketball as of late, too.

Castle's NBA Rookie of the Year odds after the All-Star Game continue to shorten as he looks better and better with each passing month. The UConn product is averaging 18 PPG in February, which includes shooting the lights out from behind the arc (42.3%).

Castle has hit two-plus threes in seven of his last night games, including two straight. With Wembanyama out, look for the rook to continue bolstering his NBA Rookie of the Year odds.
