2025 Australian Open Expert Picks & Odds: Winner Predictions & Tournament Props
The best tennis players in the world head “down under” to Melbourne Park for the Australian Open, to take place over the next two weeks.
In the Men’s Draw, Novak Djokovic continues his pursuit of history as he enters the tournament with 24 Grand Slam titles, tied with Margaret Court for the most all-time. But pre-tournament favorite Jannik Sinner will be looking to defend his maiden Grand Slam title from last year.
In the Women’s Draw, pre-tournament favorite Aryna Sabalenka looks to become the first woman since Martina Hingis from 1997-99 to win three straight Australian Open titles.
Sinner and Sabalenka enter as consensus betting favorites by the Australian Open odds.

Australian Open men’s winner
Jannik Sinner ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sinner will be an interesting player to follow in 2025, as the appeals of his previous doping allegations and failed drug tests from last year have him facing a possible suspension, even though he was previously cleared of any wrongdoing.
If Sinner can block out that noise until the process is concluded, there is no doubt he is the most talented player on this surface in the field.
Sinner only lost one set before his epic five-set battle against Daniil Medvedev last year, where he captured his first Major title at the Australian Open.
In his match against 10-time winner Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, Sinner did not even face a single break point.
Sinner won two Grand Slams last year (his US Open title was also on hard court), and he reached at least the semi-final at all of the Majors except Wimbledon in 2024.
The world No. 1 rounded out his terrific season with ATP titles at five other events, three of which came from ATP Masters 1000 events. Sinner went 73-6 as a whole last year and was integral in leading Italy to its second straight Davis Cup title.
Most of our best sports betting sites have Sinner at +120 odds to take home the title, which is slightly better than FanDuel’s +115 odds on the low end of the market.
Best odds: +120 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 45.45%
Australian Open women’s winner
Coco Gauff ⭐⭐⭐
Entering 2023, most players on the men's side waited for what seemed like Jannik Sinner's inevitable ascent to the world No. 1 ranking. Recent results show that Coco Gauff may be on a similar ascent on the women's side.
Gauff had a perfect record last week in both singles and doubles at the United Cup. Along the way, she earned several confidence-boosting victories, including her second straight win over Iga Swiatek.
In her United Cup run, Gauff beat other contenders like Leylah Fernandez, Donna Vekic, Zhang Shuai, and Karolina Muchova. Her victory over Swiatek, against whom she went 1-11 in their first 12 career head-to-head matchups, should propel her to new heights over the next two weeks.
To win the Australian Open, Gauff will likely have to defeat Sabalenka at some point. She owns a 5-4 head-to-head advantage over Sabalenka.
While she lost to her 7-6, 6-4 in last year's Australian Open semifinals, she has proven she can beat her on hard court at a major with the 2023 victory in the US Open final.
BetMGM and bet365 have shorter +400 Gauff to win this title, so I am taking advantage of the best price at DraftKings, where a $10 winning wager would net $50 in profits.
Best odds: +500 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 16.67%
Australian Open prop picks
Taylor Fritz to win the second quarter ⭐⭐⭐
Fritz is looking to build off the momentum of reaching his first Grand Slam final at the US Open last year.
He also finished as the runner-up at the ATP Finals, won two other lower-level titles, won bronze at the Olympics in doubles, and was integral in sealing the United Cup victory for the United States last week.
In that United Cup run, Fritz got invaluable experience playing against big servers, especially in the final, when he outlasted Hubert Hurkacz in three sets.
Fritz finished last year at a career-high No. 4 and earned 295 ranking points during the United Cup run, when no other player earned 100. Since they are in the same quarter, this is a great hedge against a Medvedev bet.
FanDuel is slightly lower than the rest of the market, with +290 odds for this wager. And DraftKings offers +1600 odds for any American man to win the tournament, which could be a good way to get involved with some Fritz futures.
Best odds: +300 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 25.00%
Jasmine Paolini to win the third quarter ⭐⭐
What Paolini does well on the court does not necessarily suggest she will ever turn into a dominant hard-court player. But what she accomplished last year is too hard to overlook.
Paolini entered last year ranked No. 30 and had never advanced beyond the second round in a major. However, she reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open and was a finalist at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Paolini joined Sabalenka as the only two women to reach two Major finals in 2024. She was also the only woman to qualify for both the singles and doubles events at the WTA Finals.
Paolini has the third-best odds to come out of her quarter behind Elena Rybakina and Madison Keys. But Rybakina has dealt with the distractions of her former coach getting suspended, and Keys is not as feared an opponent at this stage in her career.
DraftKings and bet365 both offer +600 odds for Paolini to reach the semifinal, while FanDuel (+440) and BetMGM (+400) have much shorter odds.
Best odds: +600 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 14.29%
