World Series Odds & Favorites 2025: Dodgers' Odds Shorten as Offseason Additions Continue
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to sprint further away from the pack in the World Series odds, especially after reeling in Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki.
The starter is among the latest additions to the Dodgers' terrifying pitching staff, and getting him overshadows the team also inking Tanner Scott, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The latter has been among MLB's best relief pitchers in recent seasons, and he bolsters a bullpen that already ranked fourth leaguewide last campaign.
As a result of those moves and others, the Dodgers (+310) are the faraway front-runners to defend their title. The New York Yankees (+850) sit behind them after making a handful of significant moves themselves following the loss of Juan Soto.
The now-former Yankees slugger moved across town to the New York Mets (+1100), who are also among the top five. They sit just behind the Atlanta Braves (+950) and slightly ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (+1200) at our best MLB betting sites.

Dodgers (+310)
The Dodgers captured the last World Series with half a starting rotation. Now, they've signed a budding star in Sasaki and two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell to add to a group of studs set to return from various injuries. Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Sasaki, and Snell form the Dodgers' projected starting rotation and make up the best No. 1 through 5 in all of baseball.
Simply put, the Dodgers' rotation is terrifying.
And there's little respite come closing time, as Scott will likely assume that role. He's posted a sparkling 2.04 ERA over the last two seasons across 150 innings, and Scott has put together a career 11.9 K/9.
Can the Dodgers repeat?
A team hasn't repeated as World Series champions since the Yankees did so in 1999 and 2000 (after winning in 1998, too). Can Los Angeles accomplish what no other club has managed to do solely in this millennium?
The Dodgers played this past entire postseason with essentially an entire rotation on the injured list. Los Angeles' pitching should feature none of the question marks it did entering the last World Series with many of those pitchers expected to return around the start of the 2025 regular season. This is especially true after adding Sasaki, who regularly touches triple-digits with his fastball.
Even though the Dodgers didn't land Soto, they were reportedly in the mix. That's a good sign, as it shows they're willing to keep spending and add to the lineup, as they did by bringing back Teoscar Hernandez.
This could be a dynasty in the making with Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Ohtani, and Sasaki all together for the next few years at least. In other words, yes, the Dodgers can absolutely repeat.

Yankees (+850)
Many fans in the Bronx were left feeling embarrassed after half of New York's superstar outfield duo jumped ship for Queens when Soto departed. The Yankees wasted no time reinvesting that money elsewhere as they've been busy throughout the offseason.
The 27-time World Series champions have already filled the gap next to Aaron Judge in the outfield after trading with the Chicago Cubs for Cody Bellinger. They also traded for All-Star closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers to bolster their bullpen. Furthermore, the Yankees signed starting pitcher Max Fried and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt to free-agent deals.
The Bronx Bombers are dead-set on getting back to the World Series as they pursue their first pennant since 2009.
The Houston Astros' dynasty is on the downswing after likely losing Alex Bregman and sending off Kyle Tucker this offseason. New York is looking to step into its rivals' shoes as the team to beat in the American League for the foreseeable future, and the odds reflect this reality.
DraftKings carries the most favorable line on the Yankees to win the 2025 World Series at +850. That number carries an implied probability of 9.52%.

Mets (+1000)
The Mets went on an incredible second-half run during the 2024 campaign and looked like they were maybe one or two significant pieces away from being true contenders. Well, there was no piece larger than Soto this offseason.
One of baseball's best hitters (and arguably the best) joins a lineup featuring perennial NL MVP contender Francisco Lindor and rising star Mark Vientos to form a terrifying top of the order.
New York still needs to make other moves before I consider it a real challenge to the Dodgers - especially as L.A. continues to make superstar additions of its own - but this is an excellent first step.

My World Series contender to watch
Padres (+1800)
I'm going with the same team I backed for much of the second half of this season, and the team that gave the Dodgers the greatest challenge during the playoffs.
The Padres were built for the postseason this year, and the club might have gone all the way had it not forgotten how to hit in the NLDS. San Diego features some key players who are set to become free agents, but the Padres should have no problem re-signing or replacing those players.
The Padres' rotation and bullpen are still loaded with talent, and they have a few interesting prospects they can call up, too.
