LSU fell short in its quest to become the first repeat champion since South Carolina (2010-11) last season. The Tigers retooled behind the nation's No. 1 recruiting class and a plethora of transfer portal additions. An experienced offensive core and a myriad of options on the mound should have the Bayou Bengals in the mix from the jump.
This could be Jay Johnson's most well-balanced roster since arriving in Baton Rouge, which is a scary thought considering LSU won its seventh national championship just two seasons ago. The value is there on the Tigers this early, as they have +850 odds to win No. 8 in 2025.
College World Series contender pick: Florida State

Link Jarrett had the tall order of following 43 years of success under the Martins (Mike Martin, Mike Martin Jr.) at Florida State. How did he respond to the pressure? He orchestrated the largest turnaround in the country in year two and got the Seminoles back to Omaha.
Florida State has an excellent chance of getting back to "The Chuck" again behind two of the nation's top arms. If Jamie Arnold and Cam Leiter can stay healthy, the Seminoles have Friday and Saturday nights on lock throughout the season.

The Big 12 is an underrepresented power conference in the preseason rankings. Only three of its representatives are included in the 25-program field, and Arizona State isn't one of them. The Sun Devils flew under the radar at around .500 last year, but it won't be long before they burst onto the scene with a star-studded cast.
College baseball is all about its flashy names, and Arizona State has a pair of them in Brandon Compton and Ben Jacobs. The duo is among the conference's most highly rated prospects. If Willie Bloomquist can put the pieces of the puzzle in place to succeed elsewhere, his team can make some postseason noise.
Bettors are taking a chance on any long shot; that much goes without saying. But if there's a team worth taking a flier on, it's one with two highly-touted major league prospects in a winnable conference. DraftKings lists the Sun Devils at +10000 to capture their first bit of silverware in over four decades.
