Tennessee vs. Georgia touchdown pick
Dylan Sampson anytime touchdown scorer (-135) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Much of the attention surrounding Tennessee’s offense has focused on freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The hype is warranted too. The Volunteers’ signal-caller has been superb, but there’s not often a lot of talk about their ground game. Don’t look now, but Dylan Sampson has been one of the best players at any position in the country this season.
Sampson is putting up video-game numbers through nine games. He’s recorded 201 carries for 1,129 yards (5.6 yards per carry) and 20 rushing touchdowns. While Iamaleava has been running the offense efficiently, Sampson is the true standout performer.
The junior from Baton Rouge, La. has found the end zone at least once in every game this season, including seven multi-score games.
Georgia’s defense has been susceptible to the run this season, allowing touchdowns to opposing running backs in five of its last six outings. Only the Texas Longhorns failed to record a score on the ground against them.
Given those trends, Sampson’s odds should be heavily juiced. But at -135 he’s still playable as an anytime touchdown scorer for one of your college football Week 12 predictions.
Sampson might score, but our Phil Wood thinks he'll be otherwise reasonably contained as part of his Tennessee vs. Georgia prediction.
Best odds: -135 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 57.45%
Best Tennessee vs. Georgia prop bets
Carson Beck Under 263.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Carson Beck’s season has been a roller coaster.
The experienced Georgia quarterback’s passing yardage prop is set at 263.5 against Tennessee, which is a bit too high for our taste. Beck has only thrown for more than 264 yards in 44% of the games he’s started this season. Each of those instances came when he threw the ball at least 33 times.
The Over hitting here is something we don’t see happening in an SEC showdown during Week 12 that features two fantastic rushing attacks. Jalen Milroe is the only quarterback to register 30-plus pass attempts against the Volunteers this year (45). He’s also one of just two QBs to throw for over 200 yards against the NCAA’s 15th-rated pass defense.
Kentucky (28th) and Texas (1st) are the most comparable pass defenses to Tennessee that Georgia has faced. Beck registered 160 and 175 passing yards, respectively, against those teams.
Best odds: -114 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 53.27%
Bru McCoy Under 25.5 receiving yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐
Bru McCoy’s receiving yardage prop is set at 25.5 yards. That's incredibly low, but it’s not without reason.
McCoy has posted games of zero, nine (twice), 10, and 12 receiving yards in 2024. He’s gone Over this total in just four games this season. McCoy is the personification of a boom-or-bust receiver.
FanDuel gives him a 53.27% chance to reach 26 yards receiving, which he’s only done in 44% of his games this season. Betting the Under makes sense mainly because of the value. Georgia also boasts the second-best defensive backfield of any team Tennessee has faced this year in passing yards allowed.
Best odds: -114 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 53.27%
