Could Colorado win the conference? I didn't think so until about three weeks ago.
Deion Sanders ' team is in great shape between the Buffaloes handling business and BYU, Iowa State, and Kansas State choking in recent weeks.
The Buffaloes' win over Baylor in OT was nice, but hammering UCF the way they did as a 14-point underdog was maybe the most impressive win of the Sanders era in Boulder. Then they nearly beat Kansas State before thumping Arizona, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, and Utah.
Still, the offensive line play remains the most significant issue, with Sanders bringing in a whole new set of starters via the transfer portal for the second straight season. Shedeur Sanders is among the most sacked QBs in the country.
Previously, I didn't think Sanders and Hunter's talent could overcome an offensive line that has looked like one of the worst in the Power 4 at times. But with Sanders being arguably the best quarterback in the country and several receivers with NFL futures, this team is capable of beating BYU and Arizona State.
Trench play and a lack of a running game remain the Buffaloes' downfall, but this price at FanDuel is an outlier worth backing. If Sanders and Hunter can overcome the issues around them, and Colorado wins the Big 12, a $10 bet pays a $10 profit.

BYU (+310)
There's a good chance Kalani Sitake will take home at least one coach of the year award this year. The BYU bench boss took a team that was projected to finish near the bottom of the conference and had gone undefeated through the first nine games before falling to the Jayhawks.
Not only did the Cougars drub a Kansas State team 38-9 that was expected to win the Big 12, but BYU beat SMU in non-conference play in September. At that time nobody knew that the Mustangs would become a potential College Football Playoff team.
The Cougars came into the season with the longest odds in the conference to win the Big 12 (+12000) and have done nothing but overachieve behind a physical defense and a budding star at QB.
Jake Retzlaff has been one of the best stories in college football this season and looks like one of the top quarterbacks in the conference. He has BYU ranked 26th in SP+ and led a game-winning drive in the Holy War.
Obviously, the loss to Kansas was a tough look, but the Jayhawks have been far better than their 4-6 record in recent weeks. BYU was bound to drop a game eventually, and maybe it will motivate the Cougars against the scrappy Arizona State team they're set to play on Saturday.
If BYU wins out and takes the conference title, not only will a $10 bet on the Cougars pay a $40 profit, but Sitake's team could earn a bye in the CFP.
