Clemson vs. Texas Parlay Picks & Predictions: CFP Round 1 SGP Odds
The Texas Longhorns host the Clemson Tigers in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Of all the College Football Playoff games, this is the one that our best sports betting sites expect to be the most lopsided, as the Longhorns are favored by 12.5 points.
How will this large spread affect the Clemson vs. Texas parlay picks for Saturday’s 4 p.m. ET (TNT/Max) game in Austin, Texas?
One certainty is that the Longhorns have one of the best defenses in the country. It's allowing fewer than two touchdowns per game, and it could create serious problems for Cade Klubnik and Phil Mafah.

Under 50.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Longhorns have the second-best scoring defense in the nation, allowing just 12.5 points per game. They’ve held 10 of their 13 opponents to fewer than 20 points, and though the Tigers are averaging 34.3 points per game, they have scored just 17 in two games against SEC competition.
The Longhorns are averaging 33.6 points per game, but they’re averaging just 22.3 over their last three contests. The Tigers’ defense is allowing 23 points per game, so I believe that they can keep the Longhorns at least mildly in check and hold them to fewer than 30 in this game. And considering how good the Longhorns’ defense has been, I see very little chance that the Tigers score more than 20 in this game.
Phil Mafah Under 44.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mafah has run for 1,106 yards this season, but he’s had four poor performances in a row. Despite the Tigers leading for the entirety of the ACC Championship, Mafah ran for just 28 yards on 13 carries in that game. While he did rush for 66 yards against the South Carolina Gamecocks, it took him 20 carries to hit that number. Before that game, he ran for fewer than 20 yards in back-to-back contests.
The Longhorns are allowing just 106.7 rushing yards per game. That’s right on par with what the SMU Mustangs allow per game, and Mafah struggled mightily against them. In a game that the Tigers will likely be trailing in, Mafah won’t get enough touches to do anything against a defense allowing just 3.1 yards per carry.
Quintrevion Wisner 2+ touchdowns (+150) ⭐⭐⭐
Wisner has only four touchdowns this season, but the Tigers have allowed three rushing touchdowns in their last two games. Additionally, the Longhorns are averaging 4.2 touchdowns per game, so if only one of these teams is going to have a solid offensive game, it will be the Longhorns.
With the Longhorns favored by nearly two touchdowns, Wisner is likely to see plenty of attempts. The Longhorns have leaned on him in recent weeks, as he carried the ball 33 times against the Texas A&M Aggies and 26 times against the Kentucky Wildcats. He scored just once in those two games, but he’s the offensive player on the better offensive team who will have the ball in his hands the most.
The price could be better since Wisner has just one multi-touchdown game this season. But this is the best longer-shot prop to add to this parlay and raise the payout.
