It was a good month for our best sports betting sites in the Buckeye State.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission has announced the sports betting results for November, revealing that operators collected over $117 million, the highest total in 2024 and the second highest in state history.

It fell well short of the record $208.5 million generated in January 2023, the first month of legal sports betting, but it marks only the fourth time the Ohio sports betting market has generated more than $100 million in revenue in one month.

Month-on-month, revenues climbed by 43.6% from $81.4 million. Meanwhile, the year-on-year revenues increased by over 71.6%. Ohio sports betting apps generated $114.2 million of the total amount, while retail locations contributed over $2.6 million.

The sportsbook handle in Ohio hit over $1.02 billion in November 2024, again the second highest total in state history behind the $1.13 billion from January 2023. By claiming that milestone, it marked the second consecutive month Ohio hit its second highest handle total in state history, after taking the place of October 2024.

The strong sports betting handle continues the fast start Ohio sports betting has made, after becoming the fastest state to reach a $10 billion handle in June.

FanDuel Leads the Way in Ohio

Two sportsbooks added the most to the November sports betting handle, with FanDuel and DraftKings accounting for over 67% of the state-wide online handle. FanDuel generated the most significant handle, seeing more than $351.1 million in wagers. Meanwhile, DraftKings handled $329.8 million.

The next closest competitor was bet365, a partner of MLB's Cleveland Guardians. The sportsbook collected over $76.6 million in wagers. BetMGM was close behind, creating a sports betting handle of more than $72.2 million.

Most sportsbooks operating in the state offer attractive Ohio sportsbook promos.

Established Local Brands Lead Retail Sports Betting

While online sports betting was dominated by FanDuel and DraftKings, which are the biggest sportsbooks across the US, retail sports betting shared the handle to brands which have had a strong presence in Ohio for some time. For example, Hollywood Columbus Casino generated the highest sports betting handle at $3.28 million. That was closely followed by Jack Cleveland with a $3.23 million handle.

Meanwhile, there was no noticeable advantage to being partnered with an OH franchise, as the partners of the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Columbus Blue Jackets failed to generate a handle above $1 million. That includes BetMGM for the Cincinnati Reds, which hit a handle of $1.6 million through its retail sportsbook at MGM Northfield Park.
